Candi Bentar is a traditional Balinese gate in the form of a split mountain, creating a passage in its central part. It is often found at the entrances to temples and other important places, symbolizing the boundary between the earthly and spiritual worlds. Its architecture reflects the rich artistic and cultural heritage of Bali. The gate is characterized by its soaring form, decorative patterns, and intricate carvings. A characteristic decorative element is the motifs of coral and pepatranu (Balinese ornament), which refer to life in the forest and in the mountains. On both sides of the entrance are statues of Bhuta or Dwarapala – guardians whose task is to protect the sacred space and neutralize any negative intentions of visitors. In Bali Indah in the Charlotta Valley, where culture and nature harmoniously intertwine, Candi Bentar serves as an impressive hallmark of the complex. Set against a picturesque landscape, it refers to the exotic atmosphere of Bali, highlighting the unique character of this place.
